Dixon Studio will host a closing reception for the art exhibition “Made For Heaven” on April 26 from 5:30-7:30 pm at the gallery in Staunton, located at 323 N. Central Avenue, three blocks north of Beverley Street. The event showcases the work of prolific liturgical artist Ronald Neill Dixon.

Originally from Ireland, now based in Staunton, Dixon is best known for his stained glass artwork installed in churches of many denominations across the country. Creating pieces in both the traditional and contemporary styles, Dixon is recognized for his innovative compositions and lifelike attention to the human figure.

“Made For Heaven” centers on the depiction of both historic and modern saints through stunning works on paper, ranging from detailed pencil portraits to elaborate ink and marker renderings. Some of the works on display were the initial design proposals for stained glass windows or statuary, providing a unique insight into the artist’s process. 

Halos & a heavenly backdrop are available for saintly selfies. A selection of originals, prints, & cards will be available for purchase at the reception and are posted online.

Heavenly music and light refreshments will be provided.

Parking is available free of charge at the Dixon Building, and on the opposite side of Central Avenue.

The event showcases the work of renowned liturgical artist Ronald Neill Dixon. Best known for his stained glass windows installed in churches across the country, this gallery exhibition celebrates the saints through stunning works on paper. Ranging from detailed pencil portraits to elaborate ink and marker renderings, the show presents an unusual perspective on historic and modern saints.

Heavenly music, light refreshments, and an opportunity for saintly selfies will be provided.

About the Artist:

 

Having received his formal training at Belfast College of Art (now part of Ulster University), liturgical artist Ronald Neill Dixon is based in Staunton, Virginia, with works in the permanent collections of churches across the United States. His artwork features both traditional and contemporary approaches to the subject matter. While he is most known for his stained glass windows, Dixon Studio also creates mosaics, statuary, and furnishings for churches of all denominations. The studio website can be accessed here
