Custom Prie Dieu: limited edition of two, designed & crafted in 2008
No. 1 was commissioned for the visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the US and remains on display at the Saint John Paul II National Shrine in Washington, DC.
No. 2 has been on display at Dixon Studio in Staunton, Virginia since its creation and is now offered for purchase for the first time, along with the following items:
Papal Rug: Michael Aziz oriental rug purchased in 2001 for studio display
On loan to John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, DC, 2008 for visit of Pope Benedict XVI; on display at Dixon Studio since 2008.
Original Design & Official Photograph: color scale design, 2008
Comes with embossed certificate of authenticity signed by liturgical artist Ronald Neill Dixon and framed with official photograph of Pope Benedict XVI at prayer.
The Prie Dieu: This custom designed kneeler was created to coordinate with the existing furnishings in the chapel at the John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, DC. Designed and fabricated in Virginia, it is the second in a limited edition of two, and measures 28" wide x 27.75" deep x 30" high.
The Rug: This high quality, hand-knotted wool rug measures approximately 95" x 130" and employs a vine & cross motif in an elegant palette of gold, beige, sage, and grey tones with rich accents of burgundy and muted blue. This pattern is no longer available from the New York importer from which it was purchased.
The Original Design: The color rendering by nationally renowned, award winning liturgical artist Ronald Neill Dixon measures 7.75" wide x 7.5" high and is framed alongside the official photograph of Pope Benedict XVI at prayer.
